It’s with great pleasure that I introduce Bodega Hot Sauce. As you’ll see, all of our hot sauces, dry rubs, and marinades have a story behind the name.
The story behind Bodega starts in New York City, Washington Heights (aka Spanish Harlem). I grew up on 186th Street & St. Nicholas Ave, and just like every corner in the Heights, there was a bodega—a small neighborhood store that packed in everything from snacks to hot sauces.
My bodega was tiny, but it had everything. Next door was an arcade where I spent all my quarters, delivering groceries just to earn enough to master Defender, the old-school game, and eventually save up for my boombox—a massive Sharp that was bigger than me. We’d hang on the corner, protecting our turf (our Sandlot), breakdancing, and living that NYC street life. And then, of course, there was the pizza shop—where a slice cost just 25 cents. 86th Street Station, is where I would get off the subway for my first job as I was leaving the hood. The good old days.
Flavor Profile
🔥 Bodega Hot Sauce is a bold, sweet-heat sauce that layers smoky red bell pepper, rich molasses, citrusy zing, and a fiery blend of habanero, ghost, and Scotch bonnet peppers. The pure cane sugar & brown sugar balance out the heat, making it as versatile as it is unforgettable.
Chili Peppers: Red Habanero Peppers, Bhut Jolokia Peppers, and Yellow Scotch Bonnet Pepper, now that's a threesome.
Perfect for: 🍕 Pizza, 🥩 Grilled Meats, 🌮 Tacos, 🍗 Wings, 🍳 Breakfast, and anything that needs that NYC bodega flavor.
